Who this suits

Suits technology & engineering roles where the CV is read by a person — a referral, a direct email, or a smaller company without an automated pipeline.

How it handles ATS parsing

The two-column layout reads well to a human but interleaves when flattened to plain text, so older parsers can scramble it. Use it when you are sending the CV directly to a person, and keep a single-column version for portal applications.

What you can change

Accent colour, sidebar bg, font body, font heading, spacing, scale, line, section order, which sections appear, page size (A4 or Letter), and every word of the text. Nothing here is locked behind a payment.

How to write a software engineer CV in Terminal

Engineering managers skim for three things: what you built, what it runs on, and whether it mattered. Terminal keeps your stack in the sidebar so the main column can show shipped work and its effect.

Sections, in this order

  1. Sidebar: contact, GitHub or portfolio, languages and frameworks, infrastructure and tools, certifications
  2. Main column: summary, experience, key projects, education

Bullet points that work

  • Designed and shipped [the payments reconciliation service], now handling [the full daily settlement volume].
  • Cut [p95 API latency] from [800 ms] to [120 ms] by [adding a read cache and removing N+1 queries].
  • Automated the release pipeline, taking deployments from [hours] to [minutes].

Figures in [brackets] are placeholders. Use your own, and only ones you could explain in an interview.
